  1. Chromogenic film - A special monochrome process that borrows some of color film's technology. In chromogenic film, the original silver is removed after the first development, and replaced with a dye. The result is considerable flexibility of exposure, and almost none of the traditional grainy texture. Also, because chromogenic films can be processed in standard color negative chemicals, it is easier to find a commercial processing lab that will handle them.
